Some of my family members and I have been traipsing around Washington D.C. the past couple of days enjoying the sites as well as the beautiful weather!
I had been asked by Paola Brown, the President and visible leader of “Homeopathy for Americans Choice,” to come to Capital Hill and be a part of the fight to keep Homeopathy a working option for Americans.
When I was in High School, I was given the opportunity to write and deliver a speech to the Ladies Auxiliary.
(Founded in 1919, the world's largest women's patriotic service organization and one of the nation's most prominent supporters of veterans, military, and their families.)
The subject of the speech was to be, “What Being an American Means to Me,” and would award the winner an opportunity to be a part of “Girls State.”
(American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is a nonpartisan program that teaches young women. responsible citizenship and love for God and Country. Since the inception of the Girls State. program in 1937, nearly 1 million young women have had the opportunity to learn firsthand how their state and local government works)
I can remember how easy it was for me to write that speech. My parents had instilled in me a deep pride of being an American and I knew that I was blessed to live in a country where I could be anything that I wanted to be! And that if I worked hard, I could live and achieve that which God inspired in me!
Being an American was an honest to goodness Blessing and I knew that I didn’t deserve it, but it was where I had been planted, and I was Thankful!
I also knew that like many before me, Freedom is not Free. We must work, pray and never take for granted the gift of Freedom!
I won the writing contest and therefore went for a one-week crash course into the world of Politics. An amazing and informative week to say the least, which gave me insight to the Passion of Americans who want to help their fellow man.
It also gave me an understanding of how a small idea can either become a Law, an Amendment attached to a law or a tabled idea that may or may not ever see the light of discussion again…very quickly!
So, as I sat listening to Paola at our congressional training dinner in downtown D.C., and her very dedicated friends striving to direct those of us who have converged on Capital Hill, to visit our Representatives, Senators and Congressman in an attempt to convince them to support our challenge to the FDA's Proposed Changes in Homeopathy Regulations…It reminded me that we, as Americans are so very Blessed! Because we… as One Nation, Under God… still have rights, still have choices, and we still have determination!
We are: “Americans for Homeopathy Choice” That’s right: “CHOICE” fighting to keep our “CHOICE!”
It is the 58,318 Names engraved in the Veterans Memorial, as well as the literally millions of other American men and woman who have served and fought under the American Flag ….that give us that Choice.
And, hopefully the men and women representing our voice in Congress will work to keep the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia (The Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS) the official compendium for Homeopathic Drugs in the U.S) intact and remind the FDA that as Americans, WE desire this “CHOICE” for our families.
We feel that it is important to have Alternatives in Health Care.
Alternatives are Freedom. Freedom is American!
May God Bless America!
